This cultivar of the Golden Bamboo produces beautiful variegated white striped leaves. Phyllostachys aurea Albovariegata is much smaller in stature, less invasive and a slow grower. Occasionally, there may be some beige or orange tinting as well. The culms of this cultivar exhibit a more denser and clumping growth behavior. Phyllostachys aurea Albovariegata flowered and died out in the late 1990's. A few seedlings raised in North America have produced variegation. Currently a very rare bamboo.
