Acer palmatum 'Shaina'

Acer palmatum 'Shaina' is a dwarf maple that that has amazing dark pink to red foliage in the spring. Small leaves grow in dense clumps and forms a mounding shape. Depending on the climate, the leaves may age to green in the summer. Here in the Pacific Northwest of Canada, it holds its color fairly consistently throughout summer. Fall colors are a nice blend of oranges and reds. An upright, slow grower and reaching 3' tall x 3' wide in 10 years. An amazing specimen for a planter or landscape that requires a vibrant, long lasting red colour.

'Shaina' was discovered as a 'witches broom' from a specimen of Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'.
