Acer palmatum 'Mayday'

Acer palmatum 'Mayday' emerges as a vibrant orange, peach colour. As summer approaches, the leaves age to a bright chartreuse green that can easily rival the spring colour. Fall colours are a spectacle of oranges and reds. Similar to the original form of Mikawa Yatsubusa, 'Mayday' grows multiple branches where leaves form a tight, layered effect. Naturally, the branches and leaves can form shapes that are attractive ornamentally.

'Mayday' is a dwarf shrub that is slow growing and reaches 3' tall x 3' wide in 10 years. It's small size makes it well suited for an ornamental planter or smaller garden landscape. No doubt one of our favourites in our collection. Just a stunner of a beauty.

Acer palmatum 'Mayday' was discovered in a batch of 'Mikawa Yatsubusa' seedlings in Oregon, USA. It is a sister seedling of Japanese Princess.
