Pinus parviflora 'Tanima No Yuki' is a dwarf conifer reknown for it's stunning white variegated needles. It grows as an irregular shaped mound and can age to a more upright pyramidal form. New growth emerges with light pink candles and can produce a beautiful tri-color effect. This cultivar grows best with afternoon shade. The white needles tend to burn easily in areas with exposure to direct hot afternoon sun.
Translated from Japanese, 'Tanima No Yuki' means 'Snow in the Valley' Japanese White Pine. Being a very slow grower and difficult to establish, it is still quite rare. Tanima No Yuki makes an excellent choice for a potted ornamental plant or as a standalone focal plant in the garden.
