Phyllostachys aureosulcata is more commonly known as the Yellow Groove bamboo. The culms are a dark green with a yellow sulcus. This bamboo has a tendency to grow in a zigzag formation on the lower portions of the culms and then continues to grow upright again.
Phyllostachys aureosulcata is native to the cold eastern provinces of China. It is one of the most cold hardy bamboos. Apart from the odd zigzag culm, it grows rigidly upright making it a great choice for a privacy screen. One of the more commonly used ornamental bamboos, it establishes quickly and is an excellent choice for climates with cold winters.
